Nancy Carnley

Nancy Carnley, President, Ma-Chis Lower Creek Indian Tribe of Alabama — Ms. Carnley has served the Tribe since 1979. Her work in LIHEAP, LIWAP, and CSBG accounts for 40 years of her work. She has also served as the Administrative Officer for the ANA SEDS GO and APR Language Program. Her work was recognized by HHS for the Southeast for Native Women’s recognition in March. Ms. Carnley also served as the Southeast Vice-President for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) for four year. During her tenure, she was on the federal recognition task force and the task force on Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). She has previously served as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Alabama Indian Affairs Commission. Ms. Carnley is also a mother of two and grandmother of four. She holds an associate degree in Nursing.
